Driving into work at 06:45 this morning I noticed lots of England flags hanging limply in the breeze - bunting and car flags hanging abandoned in the gutter.
Some of the commentary on the England-Portugal match last night made me smile.
"Even with being down to 10 men, the captain being taken off and one of our star players sent off we still could win this..."
"Oh no, we're heading for the inevitable again..."
"If he scores this penalty then we'll be one ahead with a chance of getting through to the semi-final. " "So no pressure there then?".
