Toy Story 3

Met the family after work and went to the Odeon, Liverpool One, to see Toy Story 3.
Thoroughly enjoyed this one - there's some great stuff in it - comedy on all levels for the adults and the kids.
We'd heard that it was a real tear jerker at the end, but I didn't think it was that bad - just a little mushy.
We took the 3D option, and as usual I found that I hardly noticed the 3D effects after about 20 minutes in. They're allowing you to keep the glasses now, rather than immediately returning them for 'recycling', so you can take them back and use them another time. Wish I'd known that beforehand - we could have reused the ones that we stole last time :)

Flash Floods in Liverpool Today

This is the scene on the main road, round the corner from our house around 2pm today.
I've just checked the United Utilities website, and this street is still affected by the hosepipe ban :-D

I Love My Job :-P

On the late shift at work last week and on call. Got called back in on Friday after I left at 10pm, got home at midnight. Saturday morning the phone went at 6am (false alarm) and then again at 9:30 am (another false alarm). Saturday night I had to be in for a release at 5pm, hoping to be out by 10pm, got home at midnight again! Sunday in at 8am hoping to be out at 7pm or later. Escaped at 7:30pm but had to go back in again later for another hour. What a weekend!

I don't do it for the money, I do it for the fun. (The more money I get, the more fun I can have).

Luckily I've got 3 days off. The plan was to do some decorating, but this morning I was having a well deserved lie in, when the work phone went again. I didn't make it to the phone in time to find out who was calling - Private Number (all the landlines at work show as this). I suspect someone was trying to summon me to a meeting, not aware that I'm on leave.

Perhaps there's an easier job? I've been thinking whilst painting the bannisters - looking at the standard of my paintwork - probably not!

Thunder Storms

On the 14:00 to 22:00 late shift this week. Got to watch 2 stonking flash flood thunderstorms roll up the Mersey last night from upstream. One around 17:00 and one around 20:00. It was like watching the approach of an invisible monster - you could see a dark shadow approaching, and trees bending in it's path. Then the Liver Buildings were swallowed up, and finally the whole thing rolled over our building with a gargantuan crash, and flashes of lighting. Calm and sunshine straight afterwards, and a sparkling rainbow.
