Having a bit of a weird day today. It's supposed to be a 'study day', working from home. Unfortunately Novelist Supermum's hangover on Sunday has developed into serious back and stomach pains, so I took her to the G.P. this morning, who then had me rush her into hospital.
She's having a load of tests and scans today, so I'm running around like a blue arsed fly dealing with the kids, and sorting out a minder (Grandma) for the rest of the week.
She's got a book release tomorrow - I'll have to contact her publisher to tell them that she's not going to be available for any promo.
Sounds like I've sat on my phone again. An old pal just sent me an email to ask me "hows things?". He's had a voicemail that lasts for ages and sounds like me talking to the kids.

I went to visit her, with our two boys and Grandma, a couple of hours ago.
She says that the pain she had has now completely gone - despite receiving nothing
much in the way of treatment other than a couple of paracetemol, resting in bed and nil by mouth.
She's had a number of tests, an ultrasound scan and an X-ray and is now being kept
in hospital overnight for observation.
We should know more tomorrow. She does look a lot better now than she did this
morning.
This mornings diagnosis is that it's a problem with one of her kidneys.
Their going to let her out today, with a prescription of antibiotics.
She'll have to go back as an out-patient for further tests, so that they can decide how they're going to treat the kidney.
Took the kids to school and nursery this morning, and I'm arranging for Grandma to come round later to pick them up.
Did the weekly shop before dropping Samwise off at nursery. Picked up some "Get Well Soon" cards and flowers. Samwise made a card at the nursery whilst I was chatting to one of the staff.
Called work to let them know the situation, and that I'd be back in work tomorrow. Bags of sympathy (not) from the boss, who barely has enough staff in to cover the 11 hour business day.
She's back home now. It only took the hospital 9 hours to deliver the prescribed antibiotics to the patient.
We had to go back to the hospital to pick them up.
For some reason a recently discharged patient couldn't go to the pharmacy, but has to go to the ward to collect the prescription.
The prescription is delivered by porters who may start their round of deliveries at either end of 11 floors.
We turned up to get the prescription and were told that it was "in transit". We tried again 2 hours later and it had reached the ward, but was temporarily lost because it had been put "somewhere safe". Luckily they found it in the room next door.
